Apprentices Near Completion on Butterfly Campaign

MTL Advanced apprentices are making incredible progress on the Butterfly Campaign in support of Rotherham Hospice, with almost 2,000 corten steel butterflies now close to completion at our Rotherham Training Academy.

Over recent months, apprentices have been carefully crafting each butterfly by hand, developing valuable fabrication and welding skills while contributing to a project that will hold deep meaning for hundreds of local families. Pallets full of finished butterflies are now waiting at the academy, ready to be delivered ahead of the installation later this summer.

The beautiful steel butterflies will form part of the Meadow of Memories at Wentworth Woodhouse, creating a peaceful and powerful tribute to loved ones. Every butterfly represents a personal story, memory or wish, helping to celebrate lives while raising vital funds for the hospice and the care it provides across the region.

From Saturday 4th July to Sunday 19th July 2026, excluding Mondays, the gardens at Wentworth Woodhouse will be transformed into a breathtaking display of remembrance, with thousands of butterflies coming together in one stunning installation.

The campaign has been a fantastic opportunity for our apprentices to support an important local cause while gaining hands on experience in a real manufacturing environment. We are incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work they have shown throughout the project.
