HR Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the business in managing employee relations, pre-empt problems and be proactive in resolving challenges that prevent issues escalating.
  • Support the Finance department with payroll and auto enrollment in to the Company pension scheme for employees, currently 260.
  • Administer the Employee Time & Attendance System including dealing with starters and leavers, creating and changing rosters and clearing queries.
  • Ensure accurate and complete human resources administration including personnel files, contracts, job descriptions, annual leave, sickness, absence and ensuring compliance with GDPR as applicable.
  • Responsible for supporting the site’s recruitment strategy and all associated activity including liaising with the Recruitment Team at Head Office in Darwen on a daily basis to ensure all open vacancies are filled as quickly as possible.
  • Handling company inductions for all new starters on a daily/ weekly basis.
  • Supporting the management of disciplinary and grievance issues and / or other employees matters.
  • Monitoring sickness levels across the site and conducting long term sickness welfare meetings, liaising with onsite occupation health and arranging occupational health reports as well as completing return to work interviews.
  • Arranging and conducting exit interviews for all leavers across the site to ensure we are building a stronger future for current employees.
  • Developing and implementing HR policies and procedures across the business and to strengthen current HR policies and procedures that are in place.
  • You will have 2 direct reports, including a HR Assistant and an Administrator.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
  • Have proven relevant experience in an employee facing HR role.
  • Have and be able to demonstrate sound understanding of most HR disciplines including employee relations, reward and benefits, HR reporting, HR systems, learning and development and recruitment.
  • Be able to demonstrate effective coaching, consultation, communication and negotiation skills across all key relationships and be able to build effective working relationships.
  • Pragmatic approach with experience of working with complex problems / ‘grey’ situations.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint), and a time and attendance system.
  • Be able to demonstrate up to date knowledge and understanding of key HR theories and HR best practice.
  • Understand and be aware of current and forthcoming employment legislation changes and be aware of the implications for the Group.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload and to work to tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • Must be a strong team player with the ability to step in to assist with all areas as required.
  • Driving licence and own vehicle due to travelling to other local sites

Logistics Operator

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Packing parts from the shelf on to pallets for customer orders
  • Counting, identifying, kitting, checking and shrink wrapping of goods
  • Booking in of stock into the logistics racking using the computer system
  • Loading and unloading of multiple lorries
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
  • Fork Lift Truck – Counterbalance Licence – Side loader
  • Ability to work efficiently and build effective working relationships
  • Overhead crane / slinging & lifting skills

Welder/Fabricator X 4

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To review engineering drawings for parts to be fabricated/welded
  • Perform welding/plating activities
  • Ensure tolerances and parameters are met to satisfy quality and output
  • Ensure production timings are met/exceeded
  • Follow company rules and adhere to procedures & Health and Safety standards
  • Work as part of a team to produce orders on time and within customer expectation/quality requirements
  • Carry out and record daily/weekly/monthly maintenance and safety checks
  • Ensure correct marking up of component parts
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
  • Welding / Fabrication Experience Must be coded to BS EN ISO9606-1 fillet and butt weld standard
  • Experienced in MIG and TIG welding with the ability to read engineering drawings
  • Ability to work effectively and use own initiative
  • Good communicator at all levels
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation

Press Brake Supervisor

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that your team members are trained in using the relevant machines and equipment, reading drawings and procedures
  • Assuming full ownership of your team, by creating and maintaining their commitment, loyalty and motivation
  • Organising and obtaining maximum results from your team, through briefing, encouragement, counselling and disciplinary action where necessary
  • Recognising training and development needs and liaising with the Production Manager regarding your teams further development
  • Ensuring all Safety / Rules / Standards are adhered to, ensuring correct Personal Protective Equipment is worn at all times.
  • Ensuring the workshop and all its facilities:
    • Are kept tidy and free from clutter at all times
    • That operators are fulfilling their duties correctly and effectively at all times
    • That parts are flowing to the next process with correct labelling procedures
    • That “Schedule reports” are being followed and signed off each operation
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in press braking is ideal but not essential
  • Exceptional management and communication skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude towards work and staff engagement
  • Proactive with an eye for problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Excellent PC skills, especially Microsoft Office

Material Handler

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Efficient unloading, handling and storage of internal material, e.g., steel, stainless steel, aluminium to appropriate holding area
  • Ensuring correct storage inside the correct locations.
  • Sorting and feeding production with materials to production plans including assisting with maneuvering of materials on to and off the machines, either by crane or manually.
  • Housekeeping – ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of the Departments and Profile Compound are maintained to a high standard at all times to comply with Health and Safety standards.
  • Maximise the uptime of operations by delivering materials in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate stock levels line side.

Assembler

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To work as part of a team to produce customers’ orders on time by strictly adhering to the production schedule
  • To follow work instructions and Company / Customer expectations in terms of documentation and quality requirements
  • To carry out and record the daily / weekly / monthly maintenance checks
  • To carry out and record the necessary safety checks

Production Assistant

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensuring material is checked for size, thickness and grade, prior to cutting and to inform the operator of any quality concerns regarding the material
  • Ensure laser machines are supplied with the correct materials in a timely manner to ensure production schedules are met
  • Ensure ‘One offs’ are completed at all times
  • Ensure customer orders are produced ‘On Time and In Full‘ to required quality standards
  • Marking up of cut parts, cleaning etc.
  • Ensure all Safety / Rules / Standards are adhered to, ensuring correct Personal Protective Equipment is worn at all times
  • All machine and personal safety procedures to be followed at all times
  • Pass on all relevant information to the next shift, who are about to start work
  • Ensure the parts are routed correctly to the next part of the process in a timely manner
  • To adhere to all health and safety
  • Any other ad hoc duties
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
  • Relevant machine experience
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation and additional MTL requirements
  • Understanding of Company quality procedures and specific customer requirements

Project Engineer X 2

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure projects are led and fulfilled from order to full production
  • Main point of contact for designated blue-chip customers, ensuring liaisons to manage customer requirements and expectations including variations from original order
  • Reviewing customer order requirements against quotation
  • Breaking down engineering drawings to produce a bill of materials
  • Creating 2D DXF cutting files for use in our thermal cutting processes
  • Inputting manufacturing information into our operating system to generate route cards
  • Generating process manufacturing drawings
  • Raising purchase order requisitions and expediting suppliers
  • Liaising with internal departments and customers to resolve queries and expedite progress
  • Provide technically sound engineering solutions to achieve effective results and to resolve any potential problems or issues.
  • Prepare accurate timelines for all aspect of each project
  • Develop a commercial awareness of contracts handled
  • To progress the manufacture of all parts required to schedule
  • Achieve On Time in Full requirements
  • Involvement in quotation process
  • Involvement in design process
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
  • Engineering qualification or good engineering background.
  • Knowledge and experience of AutoCAD and ERP manufacturing systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both within the company and with external blue chip customers.

Training Officer

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To fulfil educational requirements of new and existing staff. Administer needs assessments, gauge skill shortages and then address these through tailored health and safety training programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Carry out overhead crane lifting and slinging training
  • Carry out manual handling training
  • Carry out other health & safety critical training as required by the business
  • Maintain accurate documents
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a heavy manufacturing and/or sheet metal environment
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with overhead cranes
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience operating forklift trucks
  • Strong desktop and in-person research, presentation and reporting skills

Hours of Work: 25 hours per week, 3 days per week

General Operators – Laser x 3

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Following of the laser kitting process
  • Working on MRP printing programming sheets and investigating jobs to completion, taking pictures to have full traceability
  • Housekeeping – ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of the Departments and Profile Compound are always maintained to a high standard to comply with Health and Safety standards
  • Maximize the uptime of the machines by delivering materials in a timely manner
  • Collect parts from various machines and do milk runs to keep the machines areas tidy, safe, and workable
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
  • Fork Lift Truck – Counterbalance Licence – Side loader
  • Ability to work efficiently and build effective working relationships
  • Overhead crane / slinging & lifting skills
  • Experience in a similar role/environment
  • Needs to be able to read engineering drawings
  • Operate a drill or similar machinery
  • Work to a high standard

Press Brake Operator X 2

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operating press brake machine, ensuring it runs continuously to ensure maximum productivity
  • Producing orders on time and to the correct quality standard
  • Manoeuvring of materials on to and off the press machines, either by crane or manually
  • Setting up the machine by reading engineering drawings, programming, tooling changes
  • Marking up of pressed parts and packing
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
  • Must have previous experience operating a press brake machine
  • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of different metals an advantage
  • Competent in the use of all forms of measuring equipment including verniers, rulers, angle measuring devices
  • Able to set and maintain a high standard of workmanship
  • Able to work pro-actively and as part of a team to improve productivity and efficiency

CNC Miller x 2

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Writing and proving programs for all machines as required
  • Set up jobs on machines centrer’s
  • Work with jigs and fixtures
  • Machine parts to customer specification, record contract documentation, complete time sheets correctly and maintain high standard of workmanship
  • Ensure correct marking up of component parts and use of labelling system
  • Ensure parts are flowing to the next process with correct labelling procedures
  • Ensure that “Route Cards” are being followed and signed off following each operation
  • Work with Senior Manufacturing Engineer to determine feasibility of machining new products
  • Maintaining and controlling a current program register
  • Maintaining and controlling a current tool inventory, (all machines and cupboards)
  • Clean machines as appropriate
  • Continual check of coolant levels on machines
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
  • Knowledge of vertical machining centers
  • Knowledge of Fanuc
  • Ability to work efficiently and build effective working relationships
  • Able to program CNC machines
  • Overhead crane / slinging and lifting skills

  • Experience in a similar role/environment

Laser Operator x 3

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensuring material is checked for size, thickness and grade, prior to cutting and to inform the Team Leader of any quality concerns regarding the material
  • Ensure ‘One Offs’ are completed at all times
  • Responsible for quality of components that have been cut on the machine and standard of fettling if required
  • Ensure customer orders are produced ‘On time and In Full time’ to required quality standard
  • Marking up of cut parts, cleaning and fettling parts
  • Assisting colleagues on shift, e.g. trainees, apprentices etc.
  • Ensure all Safety / Rules / Standards are adhered to, ensuring correct Personal Protective Equipment is worn at all times
  • All control cards and nestings are filled in correctly, taking note of any special instructions
  • All machine and personal safety procedures to be followed at all times
  • Pass on all relevant information to the next shift, who are about to start work
  • Ensure the parts are routed correctly to the next part of the process in a timely manner
  • To adhere to all health and safety
  • Any other ad hoc duties

Technical Estimator

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Working from Customer drawings to produce detailed quotations.
  • Producing accurate and detailed manufacturing cost estimates generated from detailed client manufacturing drawings.
  • Create full routing information including labour and material costing.
  • Liaise with sub-contract suppliers as required.
  • Input all information into the computer system in order to produce full quotations to the sales department.
  • Monitoring enquiries within the company and speaking direct with customers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
  • Previous experience within a Estimator role with experience in a sheet metal fabrication shop or metal profiling environment.
  • Experience working on a variety of contracts and quoting from detailed engineering drawings.
  • Strong background in fabrication or metal profiling processes.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Strong attention to detail.
