We were pleased to attend DVD 2026 at UTAC Millbrook on 16 and 17 September, where we had the opportunity to showcase our capabilities and meet with customers, defence organisations and industry partners from across the sector. The biennial event brings together military personnel, government representatives and equipment suppliers from across the UK defence industry. This year’s theme, “Connected for Combat: Aligning people, systems and decisions”, focused on the importance of bringing people, systems and technology together to support the future of defence. Throughout the two-day event, we showcased our extensive capabilities in armoured vehicle fabrication, assembly and painting. As a leading contract manufacturer, we work with major defence companies across Europe, the US, the Middle East and Australasia, supporting projects from initial design and development through to full volume production. Our 387,000 sq ft manufacturing facility provides a complete turnkey solution, including 107,000 sq ft of dedicated fabrication space.

The Butterfly Appeal has officially come to an end following a hugely successful campaign raising £95,347. The final display closed on Sunday after welcoming thousands of visitors to Wentworth Woodhouse. MTL Advanced is incredibly proud to have played a part in such a meaningful community initiative, with our talented apprentices manufacturing all 2,000 steel butterflies at our state-of-the-art facility in Rotherham. The project showcased the wide range of skills developed through our apprenticeship programme. Every butterfly was laser cut, folded and welded entirely in-house before being finished externally, with an engraved tag carrying a personal message or cherished memory of a loved one. The result was a stunning display that provided families with a special place to reflect while raising vital funds for Rotherham Hospice. A unique horse sculpture, made by apprentices from our Engineering Academies in Rotherham and Blackburn, has been unveiled at MTL Advanced, highlighting the exceptional standards being achieved across our training programmes. Named Doublet, the sculpture was fully designed and manufactured by a team of four apprentices, with all work completed in-house. From laser cutting and fabrication through to polishing, the project was delivered using a range of advanced techniques. Over a three-week period, the team collectively dedicated 384 hours to the build, gaining valuable hands-on experience at every stage. The sculpture was commissioned to commemorate the visit of HRH The Princess Royal to our Rotherham facility. Its name pays tribute to HRH The Princess Royal’s own horse, while the design itself reflects her long-standing involvement in equestrian sport. During the visit, Doublet was formally presented alongside a commemorative plaque, marking the occasion and providing a lasting symbol of the day.
