Connor Mcloud was one of the first Apprentice Welders to join MTL’s Engineering Apprenticeship Training Academy in 2015, after leaving college to start the 5 year apprenticeship course. This has proven to be the perfect choice for Connor, as he has began a successful engineering career within the company.
Connor says, “I chose to apply for a Fabrication & Welding apprenticeship at MTL because I love being hands-on, creating things and earning money, whilst obtaining experience and learning a trade for life.”
Training as an apprentice at our state-of-the-art facility has provided Connor with the opportunity to gain futher qualifications and also to progress within the company.
“Completing the apprenticeship has helped me progress into my current role at MTL as a Quality Engineer. My experience and knowledge in Fabrication and Welding has helped me in my current role because I understand what production needs and how it is best to achieve that.”
Connor has been offered other career enhancing opportunities during his time at MTL, as he has now completed his apprenticeship and is about to begin an Engineering Management Degree.
“My greatest achievement I have gained from MTL is the chance to further enhance my skills and knowledge by gaining a Degree qualification, whilst still working. The company noted my motivation to learn and progress since I started at the business, and have supported and backed me ever since. ”
