In 2025, we were incredibly proud to help raise a total of £94,000 for Rotherham Hospice through two meaningful community fundraising campaigns.
Working alongside our partners and the hospice team, these initiatives allowed us to combine our manufacturing expertise with our long-standing commitment to supporting causes close to home.
The first campaign was the Feather Appeal, delivered in partnership with AESSEAL and Pryor Technology. This powerful initiative invited members of the public to dedicate a beautifully crafted steel feather in memory of a loved one, with each dedication contributing vital funds towards local hospice care. The feathers formed part of the Meadow of Memories installation, displayed in the historic gardens of Wentworth Woodhouse from 9th to 23rd August 2025.
As a manufacturing specialist, we provided both the technical expertise and hands-on support required to bring the project to life. Our apprentices manufactured hundreds of steel feathers, gaining valuable real-world experience while contributing to a deeply meaningful cause. This project built on our long-standing relationship with Rotherham Hospice, following our previous support as Charity of the Year and the creation of the Tree of Life sculpture now displayed in the hospice gardens.
In June 2025, this work received national recognition when we were featured on BBC News during the opening of the Meadow of Memories at Rotherham Hospice. The Mayor of Rotherham joined our apprentices at the opening ceremony, recognising the skill, care and compassion that went into every feather. It was a proud moment for our team and a powerful example of the positive impact our people made beyond the workshop.
Our second campaign was Light Up a Life, a project that held special meaning for everyone at MTL Advanced. Our apprentices produced stainless steel star ornaments for the hospice’s Christmas remembrance campaign. Each star was carefully crafted, engraved and finished, before being sent to families to hang on their Christmas trees after being displayed at the hospice.
Together, these two campaigns reflected our values, our people and our commitment to supporting Rotherham Hospice and the wider community.
