Christina Bubb joined MTL as an Apprentice Welder in 2016 after a number of false starts in various industries. This was proven as the perfect choice as in 2017, Christina was named Intermediate Rotherham Apprentice of the Year during the second year of her apprenticeship.
Christina explains, “The benefits of completing an apprenticeship at MTL are that you are guaranteed a full-time job at the end of the 5 year scheme. During this time, you are trained at college one day a week, whilst also learning a trade for life.”
Training as an apprentice at our state-of-the-art facility has provided Christina with the opportunity to earn while learning and to also progress within the company.
“If you are looking for a career in engineering, this is the ideal apprenticeship to go into. You get hands on experience with skilled people learning the trade you want while earning a wage. You can progress into other roles within the company.”
Christina has been offered career opportunities during the 5 year Welding & Fabrication Apprenticeship scheme, as she has progressed into a Sales Estimator position.
“I am now working as a Sales Estimator within the office, calculating fabrication times for potential new jobs and putting assemblies together in our computer system. The fact that I have shop floor experience helps me and my colleagues, because I can estimate from a welder’s point of view how long a project would take to build and weld.”
We currently have 11 apprenticeship opportunities available across various disciplines, including Welding & Fabrication, CNC Machining, Laser & Press Operatives and Business Administration to name but a few.
We are looking for local individuals who want to join a growing engineering company and learn a trade for life. For more information about our apprenticeship opportunities, visit our Careers page or email your CV to recruitment@wecl.co.uk!
