Congratulations to Christina Bubb, a welding/fabrication apprentice at MTL Advanced, who has won the Intermediate Rotherham Apprentice of the Year Award 2017.
After a number of false starts and re-evaluating her career choices in industries such as Beauty, Christina scooped the title in a profession which is predominantly male.
Anita Adams, HR Manager at MTL Advanced, said: “Christina is doing something she clearly has a natural talent for, and her no-nonsense attitude and competitiveness is outstanding.
She is an advocate for females who are looking for a career in a mostly male dominated industry, highlighting that women can be just as successful.”
Tom Smith, also a welding/fabrication apprentice at MTL Advanced, received Highly Commended at the event which was held at the AESSEAL New York Stadium on Wednesday 28 June.
The two apprentices were shortlisted in the final 16 out of 170 entries from young people across the borough, which is a testament to the standard of training they receive.
The awards have been launched as part of National Apprenticeships Week which aims to bring together employers and apprentices from across England to celebrate the success of apprenticeships over the last decade, and seek to encourage even more people to choose apprenticeships as a fast-track to a great career.
We are currently recruiting welding/fabrication apprentices to join our state-of-the-art Grange Lane facility in September. The five-year apprenticeship program offers young individuals a range of advantages, including a higher earning potential.
Apprentices have constant access to state-of-the-art equipment five days a week, enabling them to learn and utilise the most modern practices and techniques whilst mixing with our staff to get a taste for the workplace.
