FLT Driver/Kitter/Labourer

Responsibilities:

  • Efficient unloading, handling and storage of internal material, e.g., steel, stainless steel, aluminium etc. to appropriate holding area
  • Ensuring correct storage inside with location of materials updated on computer
  • Sorting and feeding production with materials to production plans including assisting with maneuvering of materials on to and off the machines, either by crane or manually.
  • Housekeeping – ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of the Departments and Profile Compound are maintained to a high standard at all times to comply with Health and Safety standards.
  • Maximise the uptime of the machines by delivering materials in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate stock representation of the press racks

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:  

  • B2
  • Ability to work efficiently and build effective working relationships
  • Overhead crane / slinging & lifting skills
  • Experience in a similar role/environment

Machine Shop Senior Team Leader

Responsibilities:

  • As a “Supervisor” you are responsible for the team’s performance in line with the terms of the current plans, measure in terms of output, quality, safety etc.
  • To create a plan which allows the team to effectively produce customer’s orders “On time and In Full” by strictly adhering to the production schedule.
  • Ensure the team fully understand the plan and our expectations in terms of deployment of resources, documentation and quality requirements.
  • Ensure the team records contract documentation, complete time sheets correctly and maintain high standards of workmanship.
  • Work with team to ensure a robust shift handover system is followed.
  • Ensure any machine/maintenance faults and problem are fixed/repaired/reported and logged to the respective fabrication service provider requesting a service engineer within their shift.
  • Drive the team to ensure correct marking up of component parts and use of the labelling system is adhered to.
  • Implement effectively the processes of change which occur within the team and department.
  • To maintain a “No Fault Forward” environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:  

  • Relevant machine experience
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation and additional MTL requirements
  • Understanding of Company quality procedures and specific customer requirements
  • Ability to work effectively and use own initiative

Financial Controller

Responsibilities:

This is the perfect opportunity for a motivated and dynamic person to thrive, working within a successful and vibrant team.

As part of the Group Finance Team, to ensure the integrity of local accounting, reporting and finance processes, including Statutory and Group requirements and policies, and to provide a strong finance partnering service to the business. As part of the MTL Management Team, to contribute to the wider business, seeking out improvement opportunities and challenging status quo as appropriate.

  • Manage MTL Finance function to provide a professional and efficient service underpinning validity of ledgers, records, cash & banks and general internal control environment.
  • Review monthly stock and WIP accounting and outcome. Proactively investigate stock movements and material usage performance.
  • Continually review costing assumptions related to material and waste standards and hourly cost recovery rates, to ensure appropriateness. Ensure system parameters are maintained accordingly.
  • Lead monthly and annual closing processes to consistently achieve departmental deadlines. Ensure reliable, accurate and timely closings.
  • Production of monthly management accounts with appropriate commentary in line with Group deadlines (currently 15th of each Calendar month).
  • Be the owner/gatekeeper for the company’s profit share policy and calculations. Support the annual process for presentation of financial forecasts to Group management.
  • Manage Accounts Payable to ensure efficient processes and prompt settlement of vendor accounts.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable to ensure efficient processes and good link with Credit Control. Oversee approval of customer credit limits in line with Group policy. Oversee Credit Control function to ensure timely collection of customer balances.
  • Manage the company’s local cash flow and bank positions, ensuring appropriate liquidity at all times. Group Treasury function available through Darwen Head Office.
  • Review, contract for and manage foreign currency requirements to ensure appropriate hedging in line with Group policy.
  • Manage Cash Books, daily bank reconciliation process and petty cash.
  • Ensure internal control environment is strong and well documented.
  • Ensure full balance sheet reconciliation on a monthly basis as part of closing routines.
  • Monthly standard and other journal entries, including accruals & prepayments.
  • Control Fixed Assets, plant registers, depreciation and capital expenditures, including monthly reporting.
  • Manage system to ensure intercompany balances are reconciled each month and settled promptly.
  • Ensure business meets its obligations relating to VAT, Intrastat and EC Sales reporting.
  • Ensure business meets its obligations relating to Corporate and payroll taxes. Point of contact with HMRC.
  • Involvement in Payroll function vis-a-vis timely and accurate payment of wages & salaries.
  • Ensure processing of payroll journals, reconciliation of all relevant control accounts and settlement of external payroll liabilities.
  • Ensure completion and submission of P11D, PSA, Class 1ANIC and other benefit information.
  • Lead local annual Audit process. Point of contact to auditors. Preparation of annual audit files. Prepare draft annual Statutory Accounts.
  • Various ad-hoc reports & returns to Office for National Statistics.
  • Manage annual review of company insurance through broker.
  • Master the local IT system from an accounting standpoint.
  • Staff mentoring, training & development.
  • Ad hoc analysis and reporting, as required.
  • Manage local Human Resources function, including related areas, eg Reception.

Project Engineer

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for the planning, nesting and expedition of contracts; focussing on Laser Cutting, Press Braking and Fabrication of mid steel and stainless steel materials. Your duties will include:-

  • Reviewing customers’ order requirements against quotation and producing bill of materials from detailed engineering drawings
  • Creating 2D DXF cutting files and programming/nesting for Laser and Plasma Cutting machines
  • Generating and issuing route cards and manufacturing drawings to both production and scheduling
  • Liaising with internal departments and customers to resolve queries and expedite progress

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:  

  • Previous experience within a similar role, ideally within Laser cutting, Thermal/Waterjet cutting, Press Braking or Fabrication and welding processes
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD is essential
  • Strong working knowledge of SigmaNest or similar nesting package is essential
  • Knowledge of SigmaMRP or similar is advantageous although full training will be provided.
  • Fully computer literate and fully proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Ensure the parts are routed correctly to the next part of the process in a timely manner

CNC Machinist

Responsibilities:

  • Operating machines to produce orders on time and to the correct quality standard
  • Ensure correct marking up of component parts and use of the labelling system
  • Work with Senior Manufacturing Engineer to determine feasibility of machining new products
  • Writing and providing programmes for all machines as required
  • Maintaining and control a current programmer register and tool inventory
  • Working with jigs and fixtures
  • Cleaning and maintaining machines as required

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:  

  • Must have previous experience setting and operating vertical machining centres using Fanuc controls
  • Slinging and lifting crane experience is essential
  • Able to set and maintain a high standard of workmanship
  • Able to work pro-actively and as part of a team to improve productivity and efficiency

Laser Programmer

Responsibilities:

  • Create customer parts within the relevant Programming software in an accurate and timely manner
  • Maximise sheet utilization
  • Communicate with and support all internal customers
  • Maintain material stock levels and raise purchase orders
  • Expedite material deliveries
  • Provide cover as required within scheduling area
  • To adhere to all health and safety
  • Any other ad hoc duties

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:  

Previous experience of programming Laser and Plasma cutting machines using Sigmanest and Trutops would be an advantage but not essential. Candidates must be proficient with using Microsoft Office. Good communication and organisational skills are key for this role, as is the ability to work part of a team.

Plater/Welder

Responsibilities:

  • To review engineering drawings for parts to be fabricated/welded.
  • Perform welding/plating activities.
  • Ensure tolerances and parameters are met to satisfy quality and output.
  • Ensure production timings are met/exceeded.
  • Follow company rules and adhere to procedures & Health and Safety standards.
  • Work as part of a team to produce orders on time and within customer expectation/quality requirements.
  • Carry out and record daily/weekly/monthly maintenance and safety checks.
  • Ensure correct marking up of component parts.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:  

  • Welding & Fabrication experience and qualifications
  • Must be coded to BS EN ISO9606-1 fillet and butt weld standard
  • Experienced in MIG and TIG welding with the ability to read engineering drawings
  • Ability to work effectively and use own initiative
  • Good communicator at all levels
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation

Press Brake Operator

Responsibilities:

  • Operating press brake machine, ensuring it runs continuously to ensure maximum productivity
  • Producing orders on time and to the correct quality standard
  • Manoeuvring of materials on to and off the press machines, either by crane or manually
  • Setting up the machine by reading engineering drawings, programming, tooling changes
  • Marking up of pressed parts and packing

Knowledge & skills required: 

  • Must have previous experience operating a press brake machine
  • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of different metals an advantage.
  • Competent in the use of all forms of measuring equipment including verniers, rulers, angle measuring devices
  • Able to set and maintain a high standard of workmanship
  • Able to work pro-actively and as part of a team to improve productivity and efficiency

Fabrication Shift Manager

Responsibilities:

  • To layout and organize the production process to provide maximum efficiency and process control.
  • To ensure commercial aspect of all decisions are made a priority
  • Implement and maintain strict quality controls across the fabrication process
  • To ensure team members are fully trained:- to use the relevant machines and equipment; to be able to read drawings; to produce the required quality; and to maximize efficiency
  • To manage the department and ensure that all employees fulfil their respective responsibilities.
  • To apply best practice in work methods and material handling to reduce hazards and risk of accidents and to ensure a safe working environment which complies with Health & Safety Standards
