QSHE Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all quality, health, safety and environmental legislation is adhered to
  • Assist in the planning and monitoring of corrective and preventative measures used by the company
  • Drive the current quality, health and safety and environment policies and controls through the business while identifying opportunities for further improvement, implementing and sustaining new controls.
  • Prepare and develop health, safety and environmental strategies and policies
  • Carry out risk assessments and develop and drive risk mitigation strategies
  • Leading in-house training with managers
  • Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety legislation
  • Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of the business management systems to ISO9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001, and ensure the proper implementation of all HSEQ plans and procedures.
  • Lead both customer and governing body audits
  • Implement established Environmental systems and procedures, improving where possible.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience 

  • minimum HND / or equivalent in a related Engineering or Quality related discipline
  • 3 year’s experience within a similar role
  • Back ground of working within an ISO / TS / QS management system and performing audits.
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning Techniques (Control Charting, PFMEA, Process Flow Analysis)
  • Experience of the Production Part approval Process
  • Experience in 8D, 5S Principles
  • Statistical Process Control / Statistical Analysis
  • Root Cause analysis and closed loop problem solving
  • Process and systems approach to quality management
  • Mistake proofing and defect prevention
  • Compiling Quality Reports for Management Reviews
  • NEBOSH Qualification
  • Previous Health & Safety knowledge and experience along with FLT/Noise/COSHH essential
  • Knowledge of Safe Lifting & Slinging requirements
  • Ability to organize both in house and external training modules

Logistic Operator

Responsibilities:

  • Palletisation of products / filling stillages
  • Loading / Unloading of in-house / sub-contracts vehicles
  • Accurate counting / labeling / identification of product in line with quality procedures
  • Storage of products in appropriate warehousing, ensuring safe housekeeping standards

Knowledge & skills required: 

  • Fork Lift Truck Licence
  • Warehousing experience
  • Overhead crane / slinging & lifting skills  (Desirable)

General Operative

Responsibilities:

  • Efficient unloading, handling and storage of internal material, e.g., steel, stainless steel, aluminium etc. to appropriate holding area
  • Ensuring correct storage inside with location of materials updated on computer
  • Sorting and feeding production with materials to production plans including assisting with maneuvering of materials on to and off the machines, either by crane or manually.
  • Housekeeping – ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of the Departments and Profile Compound are maintained to a high standard at all times to comply with Health and Safety standards.
  • Maximise the uptime of the machines by delivering materials in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate stock representation of the press racks
  • Ensure a Caterpillar Tier 4 stock count is carried out daily

Knowledge & skills required: 

  • Fork Lift Truck – Counterbalance Licence – Side loader
  • Ability to work efficiently and build effective working relationships
  • Overhead crane / slinging & lifting skills
  • Experience in a similar role/environment

Administrator

Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with Production Team Leaders and shop floor staff to collate production information
  • Inputting production book information onto job costing system
  • Entering all collated information into spreadsheets to prepare reports and production statistics
  • Filing, photocopying, scanning and any other general administration tasks
  • Answering and dealing with incoming calls
  • Providing administration support to other divisions within the group as required
  • To adhere to all health and safety
  • Any other ad hoc duties

Knowledge & skills required: 

  • Computer Literate
  • Previous experience within an administration support role
  • Fully competent in Microsoft Office, in particular Microsoft Excel with knowledge of formulas
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work well on own initiative or as part of a team
  • Ability to multi-task and with a high level of attention to detail

Press Brake Operator

Responsibilities:

  • Operating press brake machine, ensuring it runs continuously to ensure maximum productivity
  • Producing orders on time and to the correct quality standard
  • Manoeuvring of materials on to and off the press machines, either by crane or manually
  • Setting up the machine by reading engineering drawings, programming, tooling changes
  • Marking up of pressed parts and packing

Knowledge & skills required: 

  • Must have previous experience operating a press brake machine
  • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of different metals an advantage.
  • Competent in the use of all forms of measuring equipment including verniers, rulers, angle measuring devices
  • Able to set and maintain a high standard of workmanship
  • Able to work pro-actively and as part of a team to improve productivity and efficiency

Production Assistant

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring material is checked for size, thickness and grade, prior to cutting and to inform the operator of any quality concerns regarding the material.
  • Ensure laser machines are supplied with the correct materials in a timely manner to ensure production schedules are met
  • Ensure ‘One offs’ are completed at all times.
  • Ensure customer orders on produced ‘On Time and In Full‘ time to required quality standard.
  • Marking up of cut parts, cleaning etc.
  • Ensure all Safety / Rules / Standards are adhered to, ensuring correct Personal Protective Equipment is worn at all times.
  • All machine and personal safety procedures to be followed at all times
  • Pass on all relevant information to the next shift, who are about to start work
  • Ensure the parts are routed correctly to the next part of the process in a timely manner
  • To adhere to all health and safety
  • Any other ad hoc duties

Knowledge & skills required: 

  • Relevant machine experience

Paint Sprayer

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing work to extremely high standards
  • Stripping, fitting and re-building parts where necessary
  • Working to specific production schedules
  • Completing all administrative procedures relating to paint area
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment
  • Adhering to COSHH
  • Attending meetings as and when needed
  • Any other ad hoc duties as may be required within the production environment

Knowledge & skills required: 

  • Previous experience of using an airless sprayer
  • Experience of using 2 pack paint is essential
  • Be fully conversant in both written and verbal English
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings and masking instructions

Robot Welder

Responsibilities:

  • To review engineering drawings and read job specifications to determine type of welding and material requirements.
  • Perform all functions involved in operation of robotic welder, including; programming, touch point, and operations
  • To promote and encourage best practice in welding and welding procedures ensuring a safe working environment and complying with health and safety standard, hence reducing the risk of accident whilst welding
  • Perform basic MIG & TIG welding techniques as needed
  • Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Team Leader
  • Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on equipment and machines
  • Required to weld various joint configurations in all positions in a competent manner

Knowledge & skills required: 

  • Welding / Fabrication Experience

Production Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure processes are developed to produce product that meet internal and external customer requirements.
  • Ensure all processes meet volume, quality, cost and delivery targets.
  • Ensure the design of production processes and facility layouts to optimise ‘Value Added’ activities and eliminate ‘Non Value Added’ processes and operations.
  • Ensure jigs, fixtures, tooling and programming are available to support all production requirements.
  • Provide accurate reporting, detailing progress to plan, open issues, upcoming actions and risk management.
  • Provide technical support to all manufacturing areas to eliminate waste, reduce NVA, deliver productivity and prevent accidents.
  • Identification, specification and presentation of business cases for new equipment and processes.
  • Implementation, education and support of the standard work, and lean processes.
  • Support the implementation of training procedures and training programs to ensure effective use of all new processes and equipment.
  • Working within a team to achieve departmental and business objectives
  • To adhere to all health and safety
  • Any other ad hoc duties

Knowledge & skills required: 

  • Continuous Improvement Mindset
  • Experience in heavy engineering and fabrication

Fabrication Shift Manager

Responsibilities:

  • To layout and organize the production process to provide maximum efficiency and process control.
  • To ensure commercial aspect of all decisions are made a priority
  • Implement and maintain strict quality controls across the fabrication process
  • To ensure team members are fully trained:- to use the relevant machines and equipment; to be able to read drawings; to produce the required quality; and to maximize efficiency
  • To manage the department and ensure that all employees fulfil their respective responsibilities.
  • To apply best practice in work methods and material handling to reduce hazards and risk of accidents and to ensure a safe working environment which complies with Health & Safety Standards
  • To develop personnel in line with their capabilities, expectations and the company’s requirements
  • To actively seek and apply continuous improvements to all processes including the management system

Knowledge & skills required: 

  • Previous experience in relevant environment preferable
  • Good understanding of fabrication and welding processes

Quality Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Performing inspection of finished assemblies
  • Take Ownership of Defence and Rail Quality Performance
  • Review of ISIR and FAIR reports prior to submission
  • First point of contact for internal quality concerns
  • Investigate Non-conformances, both internal and external and implement CAPA measures
  • Compilation and submission of PPAP documents as requested by customers
  • Report internal process performance data weekly (CCIR Action Log)
  • Provide inspection support as required (Absence/ Workload)
  • Review and approval of concessions prior to submission to customers
  • Conduct QHSE management audits
  • Conduct and lead 8D investigation reports issued by QHSEL Manager
  • Development of process controls for specific processes
  • Generating Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCAR’s) follow up to ensure effective CAPA are implemented

Knowledge & skills required: 

Essential:

Laser Operator

Key Objectives & Duties:

  • Ensuring material is checked for size, thickness and grade, prior to cutting and to inform the Team Leader of any quality concerns regarding the material.
  •  Ensure ‘One offs’ are completed at all times.
  • Responsible for quality of components that have been cut on the machine and standard of fettling if required.
  • Ensure customer orders are produced On Time and In Full time to required quality standard.
  • Marking up of cut parts, cleaning and fettling parts.
  • Assisting colleagues on shift, e.g. trainees, apprentices etc.
  • Ensure all Safety / Rules / Standards are adhered to, ensuring correct Personal Protective Equipment is worn at all times.
  • All control cards and nestings are filled in correctly, taking note of any special instructions.
  • All machine and personal safety procedures to be followed at all times
  • Pass on all relevant information to the next shift, who are about to start work
  • Ensure the parts are routed correctly to the next part of the process in a timely manner
  • To adhere to all health and safety
  • Any other ad hoc duties

Platers/Welders

Responsibilities:

  • To review engineering drawings for parts to be fabricated/welded
  • Perform welding/plating activities
  • Ensure tolerances and parameters are met to satisfy quality and output
  • Ensure production timings are met/exceeded
  • Work as part of a team to produce orders on time and within customer expectation/quality requirements
  • Carry out and record daily/weekly/monthly maintenance and safety checks
  • Ensure correct marking up of component parts

Knowledge, skills & experience required: 

  • Welding and fabrication experience and qualifications
  • Must be coded to BS EN ISO9606-1 fillet and butt weld standard
  • Experienced in MIG and TIG welding with the ability to read engineering drawings
  • Ability to work effectively and use own inititative
  • Good communication at all levels

CNC Machinists

Key Objectives & Duties:

  • Operating machines to produce orders on time and to the correct quality standard
  • Ensure correct marking up of component parts and use of the labelling system
  • Work with Senior Manufacturing Engineer to determine feasibility of machining new products
  • Writing and providing programmes for all machines as required
  • Maintaining and control a current programmer register and tool inventory
  • Working with jigs and fixtures
  • Cleaning and maintaining machines as required

Knowledge & skills required: 

  • Must have previous experience setting and operating vertical machining centres using Fanuc Controls
  • Slinging and lifting crane experience is essential
  • Able to set and maintain a high standard of workmanship
  • Able to work pro-actively and as part of a team to improve productivity and efficiency
