General Engineering

MTL is one of the only UK companies to offer four different cutting methods under one roof. Operating from a 75,000 sq. ft manufacturing bay dedicated exclusively to cutting, we offer laser cutting, waterjet cutting, Hi-Def plasma cutting and flame cutting services to the UK’s highest standards.

Profilingmtl-general-engineering

With a total of 18 laser cutting machines, 4 waterjet machines, 2 Hi-Def plasma cutters and a large flame cutting machine available in-house, we are now effectively one of the largest profiling operations in the UK.

Our large scale cutting is perfect for large parts or fabrication components. Our laser flat bed cutting machines and 5-Axis have the capability to cut components up to 20m x 3.5m. Our dynamic waterjet machine is capable of cutting up to 12m x 3m, and our flame cutting machine can cut up to 10m x 4m. In addition, our Hi-Def plasma has the capability to cut up to 25m x 5m and the tube cutting machine up to 1m diameter, 10m x 40mm.

We can also include a bevel or weld prep to eliminate the need for any secondary machining.

Press Braking

Alongside heavy investments in the latest cutting machinery, we have also significantly invested in our press braking equipment allowing for parts up to 7.3m in length to be pressed. In the meantime, we recently added a robotic handling system to our ranks, the Ursviken 640 tonne CNC press brake, allowing for pressing parts up to 600kg in weight. This state-of-the-art system provides significant cost savings when pressing parts in high volume.

CNC Machining

To complement our extensive cutting capacity, we have 40 industry-leading CNC machines available in-house with CNC Turning capabilities of up to 4m in length, 920 diameter and CNC Milling up to 11.5m x 1.5m x (2.5m + 0.45m).

Fabrication

With over 150 skilled welders and 11 robotic welding cells available, we are able to offer a complete welding and fabrication service. From the welding of stainless steel and aluminium to armoured steels and abrasive resistant steels, our skilled workforce is recognised as a leading global supplier of fabricated components.

Finishing Services

We are also able to offer additional finishing services to our customers such as powder coating, wet paint spraying and shot blasting. We can powder coat components in-house up to 1.5m high x 2.5m long x 800mm wide. Being able to combine all these services under one roof means we can offer our customers a full supply manufacturing service with very competitive lead times and much-reduced transport costs.
